Covered Button Templates

Have you ever wondered how big the fabric you should cut to make a covered button?  Some of my customers do.  It seems like very puzzle and difficult for a beginner to determine how big to cut.  If the fabric is cut too big, maybe you need to trim off the extra fabric.  What if it's cut too small?  Then the edge of the fabric is not tucked inside the button and the fabric is useless sometimes.  I don't like to use a template to measure the fabric but I know it's easier for many people.  So I created a template in PDF file for customers to download.

It's simple to use:
1. Cut out the circle template of the size of cover button you need to make
2. (Optional) Cut out the blue circle of the template.  It works like a window so that you can see the pattern on the fabric.
3. Place the template on a fabric and mark the outer (bigger) ring on the fabric.
4. Cut the fabric out.

PayPal shipping address vs Etsy shipping address

To my Etsy customers:

About a month ago, Etsy had used the PayPal Express Checkout system on all transactions on Etsy. When a customer proceeds a checkout on Etsy, he/she no longer needs to enter the shipping address. Etsy will take his/her shipping address on PayPal as a mailing address. Therefore, it's important for all customers to know that all orders will be shipped to their PayPal mailing address. Please double check your mailing address on PayPal during checkout!!! If you'd like me to send the order to somewhere else, please convo me!

Some customers didn't change their mailing addresses on PayPal even though they had moved. I strongly suggest you to do so because you're not under PayPal's Buyer Protection Plan if the order is shipped to somewhere else. It protects you and me! Thanks!

How to Make a Covered Button Bracelet

Hi! Making a covered button bracelet is super easy! You can finish making a beautiful bracelet in 15 minutes! It's a great project to do it with kids and teenagers too! I made this blue bracelet with bumble bees & flowers for my daughter. She loves it!!

Step 1:

You'll need these materials: buttons to cover (I use size 24 [5/8" or 1.6cm] here),

a coordinating cover button tool, a bracelet, fabric,

a small piece of felt (it's not in this picture), a E6000 glue, a stick or a toothpick.

Step 2:

Cut a piece of fabric with the pattern you like in the center.

It should be big enough to cover a button.

Step 3:

Because my cover button is a wire eye back (loop/shank),

so I need a pair of pliers to remove the loop out. It's super easy!

Step 4:

Put the piece of fabric on top of the mold (white one), then put the shell of the button on top. Push down and tuck the fabric in the center. Place the back of the button on top of it.

Step 5:

Push the pusher (blue one) down.

Step 6:

A covered button is made

Step 7:

Cut a piece of felt as big as the back of the button.

It helps to increase the thickness of the button back which is easier to attach to the bracelet.

Step 8:

Apply the E6000 glue onto the bracelet disks and glue the covered buttons on.

It takes about 5 minutes to dry.

Da Da! It's done!

A Beautiful Acrylic Dahlia Adjustable Ring

I recently bought some beautiful acrylic dahlia cabochons from www.waytobead.etsy.com for my cabochon rings. I bought a bag of 8 dahlia cabochons with 4 different colors - fuchsia, orange, lime green and baby blue. I attached one of them to my 10mm pad adjustable ring blank with an E6000. My Handmade Amigurumi

I'm addicted to Amigurumi!!!! AMIGURUMI is the Japanese art of crocheting small stuffs animals! I crocheted a whale without pattern couple months ago. My younger daughter loves it so much. When my older daughter asked me to make her one, I couldn't do it again for I didn't write down the pattern! Indeed, I'm not too good at crocheting. I'd better follow patterns!


As I mentioned in my last blog, I bought an amigurumi pattern from http://www.anapaulaoli.etsy.com/. When you scroll down the pictures, you'll see a little cute piggy. Her name is Jacinta!


After making Jacinta, I can't stop making more amigurumi! Therefore, I've made a little bunny, her mommy, her friend which is a little bear! It's so much fun!


Oh! Don't forget to get plastic safety eyes from Clara, my best friend! http://www.6060.etsy.com/. Those plastic safety eyes are so easy to assemble. I use 9mm black eyes for all these animals! good size!
